Our latest player to take to the PSP Player Spotlight is NSW Cup half back/hooker, Pita Godinet.
Carving his name as one of the best half backs going around in New Zealand for the past four years having played in the NSW Cup competition Pita is showing great improvement under astute coach Richie Blackmore. As an all round halves magician for the Auckland Vulcan's (Vodafone Warriors NRL feeder club) Pita dedicated much of his time training and working on basic fundamentals as a team organiser and more recently 'a visionary' as he continues to find his way to the try line. In 2008, he was awarded the 2008 Auckland Vulcan's NSW cup Rookie player of the year. In 2009, Pita was awarded the Runner-up player of the year. In 2010, under former coach Brett Gemmel Pita had amassed 23 tries in 25 NSW cup games played deservedly being announced half back of the NSW cup competition and deservedly the Auckland Vulcans player of the year. Rushed in to the TOA Samoa camp and in scoring his International debut Pita went on to become the sole try scorer against the eventual Four Nations Champion NZ Kiwis. A key strike player for the Auckland based club this astute kicker and noted try scoring freak shows great awareness and ability to read a game and is also a strong defender up the midfield when backing up as a hooker. Pita has a devastating left and right foot step and his speed as well as acceleration make him a great and unique player. Definitely a player to watch!!!
