ABOUT SAIA
Saia is a big solid centre with plenty to offer on defence and attack. Saia is a well recognised try scorer in the ARL representative junior grade competition. In 2008, Saia was the star centre for his high school rugby league and rugby union teams where former old boys & kiwis Nigel Vagana, Stacey Jones, Francis Meli and Jerome Ropati were once stars. Saia is a reliable defender and his maturity in one-on-one attack ability situations has seen Saia become his high school player of the year and most promising player in 2008.
Saia has many talents on the playing field & is an all round nice guy off the field. He is a leader for his high school Tongan cultural group and has a disciplined approach to life. Saia’s older brother Inoke is an Auckland premier grade representative centre in the NZ barter card cup competition. Like his brother, Saia is a strong ball runner and a safe defender. Saia does have a big reputation and huge wraps on. Saia oozes x-factor and this does not come lightly.
Saia is a tough player who trains extremely hard in hope of a great opportunity to learn, and earn while he learns to become a professional rugby league player. Saia is a strong leader. Through his performance on attack and stinging defence Saia is difficult to stop out of dummy half and is devastating with a bit of space. Saia has great footwork and a punishing fend to complement his left and right foot step. Given the slightest opportunity and space Saia will back himself and race his way around or through his opposition. Saia is tall, elusive and a smart thinking centre who will definitely go further with a rugby league career. Saia is destined for big things and has a big reputation in the Auckland rugby league competition and National Youth Competition (Toyota cup).
