Menzies is a big solid forward player who can play a range of positions in the forward pack. Menzies is a hard runner who enjoys the challenge of busting up opposition defence lines. Menzies is a big strong lad who has excellent foot work and deceptively quick pick up speed. He is a teams engine room with continues hit ups and tackling in the mid field. Menzies is a player who will be a big asset to the forward pack and will no doubt in future become a future leader. In 2010, Menzies played with the traditionally strong Mt Albert Lions club who has been the best Auckland senior club in the strong Auckland competition for the best part of the decade. Menzies is expecting a huge season with the Lions as he contributed to the Fox Memorial grade campaign in 2010 in which his team were losing grand finalist.
Menzies is a former rugby union player who has played rugby league at representative level from the Auckland under 18s representative grades in 2007. An Auckland under 20s grade grand final champion where Menzies had a stellar game in the back row. In 2009 Menzies had a stint with the Gold Coast with the Runaway Bay Seagulls under 19s which helped his development in rugby league. 2010 was definitely a break out year for Menzies as he adjusted to the rigorous regime of Auckland rugby league premier grade level football. Menzies displays good basic skills, covering various positions in a team and no doubt brings excellent value.
